Is Eczema Making Your Feeling Down? Let Us Transform Your Self-Confidence

Lose weight. Save money. Travel more. These are the usual New Year’s resolutions we’ve all heard from our friends and family.

But for people with eczema and other skin ailments, it’s more common to strive for healthy, clear skin.

According to Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, more than 100 million Americans, approximately one-third of the U.S. population, suffer from at least one skin disease.

Although it feels good knowing you’re not the only person who has eczema or another skin disease, it still may be hard to keep up your confidence throughout day-to-day life.

Educate yourself

The first step in feeling confident with yourself and your skin is educating yourself on your disease. Read blogs, ask a dermatologist, and make a journal of what triggers your flare-ups. If you don’t know where to begin, take a look at our eBook with special tips on relieving itch and keeping skin hydrated.

Wear what makes you feel good

When you have eczema, you may feel inclined to cover-up your skin to keep others from seeing any flare-ups. Try to find clothes that make you feel happy and confident in your own skin. Wearing loose, cotton clothing helps avoid further irritation and keeps your eczema flare-ups covered.

Positivity

Having severe, constant itch is disheartening and often leads to feeling down about your skin, but remember to be kind to yourself. You wouldn’t be so hard on your friend, so why would you be tough on yourself? Self-confidence comes from within. Practice positivity and focus on the features you love about yourself.

Relax

Many eczema suffers notice that stress, both environmental and emotional, triggers flare-ups. Limit time outside and place a humidifier in your room during the winter months to cut down on environmental stress. Overcome emotional stress through exercises like Tai Chi or QiGong, always get plenty of sleep, and avoid situations or people that stress you.

The next time you feel overwhelmed by flare-ups, try to remember these suggestions. Let us know what works for you or if there are any other tactics you use to stay confident!
