A Simple Skincare Routine for Young Professionals

For most young professionals, life is getting more and more complicated. They have to keep up with work and adapting to new and innovative technologies while also spending time to maintain their physical and mental health. Most young professionals' brains and bodies are rarely at rest.

It’s important to invest 20 minutes every day to refresh and replenish ourselves with a soothing and relieving skincare routine. With that goal in mind, let’s discuss how to maximize our skincare routine while minimizing the amount of time we spend in the bathroom.

Start With Clean Skin

First step, cleansing. As most young professionals wear makeup and/or sunscreen daily it’s recommended to cleanse your skin twice a day, morning and night. According to research, investigating the optimal cleansing methods for sunscreen users, it’s recommended to use a cleanser or cleansing oil for non-waterproof sunscreen. For waterproof sunscreen, it’s recommended to use oil cleansers in order to remove it completely. Water alone can only remove about 50% of the sunscreen residue on the face, which could lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

In addition to cleansing oil and cleanser, you should also use a charcoal konjac sponge as part of your daily cleansing routine. It’s made purely with charcoal and konjac fiber. Many know that charcoal has excellent cleansing abilities, but are still strangers to konjac fibers. Konjac is an herb native to Asia and widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. While it could be a dietary supplement that facilitates weight loss and cholesterol management, it can also be very beneficial to our skin.

In research conducted by dermatologists from Iran and the U.K., it was demonstrated that Konjac has the ability to accelerate the growth of probiotic microorganisms and inhibits the formation of acne. In addition, their research has also discovered that Konjac is effective as a biotherapeutic agent for mild acne, and can be an alternative of adjuvant treatment for severe acne problems. A Charcoal Konjac Sponge does not only help purify the skin but also powerfully defends the skin from potential acne. It is simple but effective.

Next Step - Serum

After thoroughly cleansing the skin, the next step is applying a serum. Serum is an indispensable step for young professionals, as you are no longer in your teenage years. You need to invest in anti-aging products to prolong the youthful elasticity of the skin. Typically, the skin slows down its production of collagen as you get older. This slow down typically begins in a person’s late twenties. Serums that contain beneficial anti-aging ingredients like squalane, vitamin E, and vitamin C can effectively prevent our skin from aging, thus avoiding the appearance of premature fine lines and wrinkles.

Finish with a Moisturizer, Facial Oil or SPF

Depending on the time of day you will follow up your serum application with either a non-comedogenic moisturizer that will help to retain the moisture in your skin without clogging your pores, a facial oil, or an SPF. Wearing an SPF every single day (even in winter) will help to prevent sun damage that can lead to skin cancer, premature aging, and hyperpigmentation.

During the warm summer months, many people can get away with just using facial oil to hydrate their skin and maintain balance. But, colder weather will soon be here and this can cause your skin to become dry and irritated. To avoid this, layer a facial oil over the top of your moisturizer for an extra boost of hydration.
